Ralph’s Post Oct 4

One of the sites we visited during the tour was Israel’s memorial to the victims of the holocaust, known as Yad Vashem.  The building contained photos, written plaques, films, artifacts, and survivors testimonies.  It was difficult to see and listen to the eye witnesses.  I was moved to tears numerous times.  It’s hard to believe that such atrocities occurred.  As you left the site, there was a garden containing Carob trees, which symbolize ‘tree of life’.    At the base of each tree was a plaque containing a person’s name who helped the Jews during the holocaust.  Israel recognized

Oct 3 -Last Day of Tour

Well can’t believe this is the last day but then we have seen so much that it will be nice to slow down tomorrow and soak in the culture.  We started off at Peter of the Cock Crow church.  This is where they say Peter denied Christ. Also it is an area where they found a cistern like pit that had never been plastered and had rope burns into the soft rock opening. Could this have been where they put Jesus into before His trial? David’s Psalm 88 describes how Christ may have felt during this time. Then to

Katie’s post from Sunday

Every day I am more convinced that every single square inch of Israel is absolutely gorgeous! I’m writing this on Sunday, so yesterday we visited Masada, En Gedi, Qumran, and the Dead Sea. Everything around here is desert. But it’s incredibly beautiful nonetheless. And then in the middle of this desert you have the Dead Sea and this oasis called En Gedi. Unfortunately I don’t have time to write about each location, but En Gedi is where David wrote many of the Psalms. And in the hills all around are caves where David and his men would have hidden

Oct 2 2016 – Rosh Hashona eve

Shana tova, (spelling…), We started the day at Yad Vashem (Holocaust Museum). This time it did not effect me like the previous two trips…..until the near the end. Then it hit me all over again.  How people can treat others so terribly always hits you emotionally. Yad Vashem ensures that we won’t forget but it also celebrates those that helped the Jews through this awful time, often at great personal cost. May the Lord help me to be that strong when the time comes. We then went to the Israel Meseum and viewed a huge model of what Jerusalem

Oct 1, 2016 – Masada

Up early and off to Masada. This is a big mountain upon which Herod built an escape palace in case he ever had to run away.  Even in exile you still have to live like a king! This is also where the Jewish rebels held off the Roman army.  Amazing views of the surround land and there is still visible evidence of that ancient seige. From there we went to the beautiful “Wilderness” area where David hid from Saul – Ein Gedi.We started off viewing several Ibex feeding on the leaves of trees. These beautiful animals will stand on

Friday Sept 30

Today was a busy day as we went to the Jewish Quarter and saw the Western wall. Then to the Southern steps or the crooked steps as described in scriptures I beleive in Isaiah.  Dan as always is able to connect where we are to our Lord.  Over and over again this Land tries to speak of our Lord, Dan makes sure we don’t miss it.   From the southern steps we moved to the City of David.  They have made some incredible improvements to this park and now you can get to the pool of Siloam from the

Thursday Sept 29 – (a bit Late)

Larry: Well an interesting day. We started by going to Bet She’an. a Roman ruin on top of 25 other civilizations.Incredible history as this city was situated in a position that force both those traveling on the Great Sea Route and the King’s Highway (The only 2 route’s for trade between the North and South) The moasics and pillars and theatres were incredible. Of course our whole group made it to the top of the huge tel (Tel= hill created by civilization after civilization building on top of the previous ruins.  Here there were 25 civilizations creating a large

Wednesday Sept 28 – Golani

Ralph: We visited an Saleem Shalash, an Arab Pastor who is involved in church planting in Nazareth.  He shared his testimony and how became a believer and how God led him to start a church in Nazareth.  On one occasion God told him to feed the poor but he lacked any money.  “How can I go to the grocery store without any money?”, he asked God.    Finally he obeyed God and went to the grocery store manager to tell him that God asked him to feed some of the poor in the city.  He fully expected to be

Tuesday Sept. 27- The Galilee!

Lynda The day started at 0630 when we watched the sun rise over the Galilee and anticipated what the day would be like.  We had a small small area to cover-the area of Jesus ministry.  The area made more sense this time and I am learning new details on this trip.  Special moments happened on the Worship Boat ride-imagine looking at the land and hills of Galilee and worshipping God in song. Our guide, Jane, gives us insights about the area with significant details of history and the Bible.  Dan gives us inspriational “Selah” moments at most of the

Sunday Sept. 25 – Arrival

Well we arrived at Ben Gurion Airport at 12:15 Sunday Sept 25.  We had been delayed 3 hours to change a tire on the plane and fix a leaky pipe.We hired a cab and checked into the Dan Panarama in Tel Aviv about 2:30.  It was hot and windy in Tel Aviv. We went for a walk on the beaches of the Mediterraean Sea just across a small park from our hotel and continued South to Jaffa.  We made it to the Port of Jaffa looking for a ship to Tarshish! We connected with the rest of our tour

Camel – 21 days to Israel

This interesting fellow we encountered on our first trip in 2012. He was in Petra- an area in Jordan where the Jews, the Bible seems to infer, will escape to during the Tribulation. Also the place where our Savior begins His battle when He comes again! Micah 2:12-13 (KJV) 12  I will surely assemble, O Jacob, all of thee; I will surely gather the remnant of Israel; I will put them together as the sheep of Bozrah, as the flock in the midst of their fold: they shall make great noise by reason of the multitude of men. 13
