The first day in Jerusalem we wanted to get our donation bag to Michael from Ministry to Israel:
The Purpose of the JSC
“The primary commitment of the JSC is to help new Jewish immigrants who have been in the country for less than 10 years. The qualified staff of the JSC is Russian, Hebrew, Spanish and English speaking and have assisted tens of thousands of Jews to start a new life in the Promised Land. Not only does the JSC staff help in benevolent ways, the staff also provides an inviting atmosphere where people feel respected and cared for from the moment they walk through the door.”
Prior to leaving Canada our Tuesday night group as well as family prepared a donation bag with kids clothing, toys, medicine and food. Air Canada was extremely gracious and waived the baggage few for this rather large bag. Upon arrival at our hotel we called Michael from JSC and he came to pick up the donation. He was very grateful for the donation and expressed just how much they needed the items and how very blessed they were by the donation. We want to say a big thank you to all the family, friends and our Tuesday Bible Study Group for the donations.
Michael was so blessed by the donation that he offered to drive us any where we wanted to go. We had planned to visit Yad Vashem which to our dismay was a long drive across the city but Michael was more than happy to drive us. Our visit to this Holocaust Museum was very somber but it reminded us that those that can help in any way should help for it is when we forget to look toward grace that horrible things happen.
Yad Vashem documents the rise in anti-semitism in Germany that led to rounding up the Jews to the concentration camps and finally to the “final solution” where over 6 million Jews were killed. It’s important to note that there was over 20 years of anti-semetic propaganda that led to public acceptance of removing the Jews.
